This aid measure has an estimated budget of \u20ac900 million per year for a ten-year period (a total of approximately \u20ac9 billion) which effectively begins this May 2026.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember65\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">The big breakthrough for the energy transition and our ecosystem is that this mechanism will be <strong>fully open to demand response (flexibility) and energy storage (batteries)<\/strong>, in addition to clean generation. Its main objective is to unify the playing field so that distributed assets \u2013 such as storage systems, electric vehicles, heat pumps, and industrial loads \u2013 can compete directly and in a standardised manner in wholesale and balancing markets through aggregation.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Why is it important?<\/strong> A benchmarking report prepared by <em>smartEn<\/em> y <em>LCP Delta<\/em> This highlights the enormous current gap between advanced aggregation markets (like France, Belgium or Great Britain) and the rest of the continent. It is estimated that the total deployment of demand flexibility by 2030 would avoid the need to build 60 GW of peak generation capacity, saving up to <strong>29 billion euros a year<\/strong> on grid investments and congestion surcharges in countries like Germany or the Netherlands.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Flex Touch:<\/strong> For VPP (Virtual Power Plant) optimisation platforms, this unified regulatory framework represents the biggest scalability highway of the decade. For the second half of 2026, the mainland electricity system will have <strong>1.775 MW of dispatchable power<\/strong>, a figure slightly higher than the 1,725 MW of the first half of the year.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember77\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">This volume represents 59% of the capacity initially required by the system operator (2,999 MW). Thirty-six suppliers have submitted bids totalling 2,413 MW. The resulting marginal price was <strong>42.62 euros\/MW<\/strong> for a total of 2,358 hours, which would be equivalent to <strong>200.996 \u20ac per MW per year<\/strong>.
