On March 24th, we participated in the Catalan Energy Forum in Barcelona, organised by The Energy Newspaper a space where the evolution of the energy system towards a more digital, decentralised and complex model was evident.
Throughout the day, a key message was repeated: the energy transition doesn't just depend on more renewables, but on how we manage the system.
Digitalisation, data access and collaboration were central to the debate.
In this context, Manel Sanmartií, CEO of Bamboo Energy, placed the focus on demand-side flexibility as a structural element of the current energy system.
Flexibility isn't an add-on feature of the system; it's part of how it works. It's already technically and economically viable; now we need the regulatory environment to evolve at the same pace as the technology.
A clear conclusion from the forum: without a supporting regulatory framework, it will be difficult to scale solutions that are already ready to transform the energy system.
