The purpose of CoordiNet is to establish different collaboration schemes between transmission system operators (TSOs), distribution system operators (DSOs) and consumers to contribute to the development of a smart, secure and more resilient energy system. Special emphasis will be on the analysis and definition of flexibility in the grid at every voltage level ranging from the TSO and DSO domain to consumer participation.
CoordiNet aims to demonstrate how DSOs and TSOs acting in a coordinated manner can provide favourable cooperation conditions to all actors while removing barriers to participation for customers and small market players connected to distribution networks. CoordiNet will also develop new mechanisms, which are more suitable for real time operations, in order to define requirements for the development of standard European platforms. These requirements are to be exploited beyond the scope of this project. The results will help to design scalable tools and methodologies for grid operators and third parties to safely connect, manage and coordinate flexibility providers.
By setting-up a series of standardized products for grid services at EU level, CoordiNet will define and detail mechanisms for the provision of the needed grid services at distribution and transmission level. These will include (if applicable) the reservation, activation and settlement process. The proposed CoordiNet mechanisms will be tested at three large-scale demonstration projects across 10 different locations in Spain, Sweden and Greece. They will apply different coordination schemes and test the complete set of products for grid services defined within the project. Lessons learned from these large field demonstration projects will be used to design the structure of a joined pan-European coordination platforms.
The CoordiNet project has the following objectives:
Bamboo Energy will participate in the Coordinet project through the Cascading Funds mechanism for the demonstration phase. The objective of the demonstration phase is to validate market mechanisms and platforms and test coordination schemes using real life trials. In particular, Bamboo will manage the energy flexibility of several buildings in the area of Málaga and connect them to the CoordiNet platform as part of the Spanish Demo Site led by e-distribución. As above stated, the results of Bamboo Energy participation in the CoordiNet Málaga pilot will help to demonstrate how DSOs and TSOs shall act in a coordinated manner to procure grid services in the most reliable and efficient way in cooperation with market participants and end users.
