ElectraFlex is the first decentralised flexibility platform designed for the specific needs of a DSO. The use of blockchain technology ensures encrypted communications between all market participants.
The energy system must undergo a profound change to enable renewable integration and mass electrification of heating/cooling systems and transport. Distribution System Operators (DSOs) and energy traders play a crucial role in the transition to a decarbonised electricity system. DSOs and energy traders are looking for new ways to digitise and manage their assets to resolve local bottlenecks and participate in balancing markets using demand-side flexibility.
ElectraFlex is the first decentralised flexibility platform designed for the specific needs of a distribution network operator (DSO). The platform will use Energy Web DOS technology to assign decentralised digital identities (DIDs) to the connected assets and the flexibility market participants.
The integration between Bamboo and Energyweb ensures encrypted communications using blockchain technology and allows flex assets to self-register on the Bamboo platform to participate in flex markets.
1. Bamboo and ElectraCaldense have initiated the pre-qualification process with the Spanish System Operator in order to position Electra as one of the first demand aggregators in Spain.
2. The integration between Bamboo and the EnergyWeb Foundation has accumulated experience in preparation for larger-scale deployments of decentralised flexibility provision.
3. The project has also helped to understand the requirements of the demand-side flexibility providers and to better define innovative business models and regulations.
