We're continuing to celebrate Bamboo Energy's 5th anniversary! 🥳

In this series of conversations with professionals who are driving flexibility in Europe, we share the vision of Jairo Echavez Martínez, of Som Energia, on the role of citizen aggregation and empowerment in the new energy system.

Jairo remembers that when he first heard about Bamboo, about three years ago, he didn't think we were “crazy,” but quite the opposite:

We need renewables, we need electrification… and wiring has its limits. It was only a matter of time before we learned to make smart use of the consumption we can't avoid. And Bamboo is working on that.“

From the perspective of a cooperative, such as Som Energia, flexibility has a strategic dimension:
“Aggregation is the sum of small units that allow citizens to stand up and make themselves heard from an energy perspective.”

Looking ahead to 2030, your wish is clear: that flexibility is consolidated, that more initiatives like Bamboo emerge, and that the regulation of the electricity market opens up to new agents, moving away from excessively hierarchical models.

More flexibility means more citizen empowerment. And that is a structural change worth building.

Thank you, Jairo, for sharing your vision and for moving forward together towards a more participatory energy system. 👏 😊 ⚡
