We have an Independent Aggregator!
(Or almost)

Today, the Royal Decree on the Supply, Marketing, and Aggregation of Electricity was approved by the Council of Ministers at the request of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge.

The highlights:

The Royal Decree establishes the rights, obligations and requirements that the figure of the Independent Aggregator must meet in the exercise of their activity.

Consumers will be able to freely contract the services of an aggregator to manage their electricity demand in the balancing markets, independently of their electricity supplier.

Red Elรฉctrica will have two months to design an Operational Procedure relating to the aggregation model, and the @CNMC will have three months to adapt the information exchange files.

A centralised model will be applied, with programme correction and compensation. The OS will be responsible for programme correction and, together with OMIE, will act as the compensation counterparty for settlements between traders and aggregators.

At Bamboo Energy, we celebrate the regulatory advancements to define a role that we consider fundamental for driving demand flexibility and the energy transition in Spain.
